Lianne Downey

President, Editor-in-Chief

Lianne began her publishing journey as the daughter of a newspaper columnist and a print-industry expert. Her Spirit Nerd fascinations began even earlier, roaming the wooded hills of Southwestern Michigan and later on the beaches of San Diego. She followed in her mother’s writing footsteps to become an arts journalist for The Los Angeles Times in the 80s, and a publishing consultant and co-owner of Downey Editorial Services in the 90s. By the 21st century, she was a published author of both fiction and nonfiction, a certified Biofield Tuner, an Advanced Practitioner of Eden Energy Medicine, and a psychic channel serving the greater good. She heads Jolibro Publishing from her office in San Diego, surrounded by an urban food forest and partnered by her husband of many decades (and lifetimes), both on the dance floor and in life.

Joseph Downey

Vice President, Acquisitions Editor

Joseph’s Spirit Nerd journey began with heavy metal music and continued as a student of spiritual science when he was 18, although you could also say it began lifetimes ago. He quickly developed a passion for poetry and the written word in general, serving as co-owner and developmental editor for Downey Editorial Services in the 90s, and as acquisitions editor and chief financial expert for Jolibro Publishing in the 21st century. He is also a certified Biofield Tuner, an Advanced Practitioner of Eden Energy Medicine, and a psychic channel serving the greater good. He hopes to publish his first epic fantasy trilogy in early 2022. Meanwhile, he’s hard at work building an urban food forest in his back yard, fighting off rats and gophers, and experimenting with companion planting permaculture techniques. He is editor-in-chief for Jolibro’s Nature Nerd division, coming soon.
